GUIDANCE FOR COMMUNITY CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (GCDF)

GCDF is a Charitable Community Development Foundation founded in the year 2018 and legally registered with the relevant authorities in Uganda as Company Limited by Guarantee with no share capital and Not-For-Profit Non-Governmental Organization under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act 2016. GCDF was founded to support and promote sustainable development through relevant skills development and working with grassroots structures who are the key initiators and drivers of the development agenda in various communities. The foundation goal is to support the improvement of life of vulnerable and marginalized community groups in selected poverty stricken and resource scarce areas in Uganda. To promote effectiveness, wide reach and sustainability of projects/programs implemented, GCDF works with organized, legally registered community groups including Women & Youth groups, Community Based organizations (CBOs), Faith Based organizations (FBOs) and related grassroots structures, Governments ministries & departments, research and institutions of learning in the implementation of age-appropriate, rights based, gender sensitive, cultural responsive and environmentally friendly community based poverty reduction programs.




GCDF THEORY OF CHANGE

GCDF holds very strongly that systemic and enduring change is possible when communities and development stakeholders are empowered with appropriate information and resources to initiate and drive their own development agenda, actively participating in addressing challenges affecting them through working with governments, development partners, other actors and above all tapping and utilizing locally available resources, building a culture of giving in communities and practicing community philanthropy to access basic rights, services and promote sustainability of their initiatives.

To facilitate the empowerment of marginalized and vulnerable communities through Community mobilization and Sensitization, Capacity Development, Advocacy and influencing relevant policies, Partnerships, Collaboration and Networking so that they can actively engage and realize inclusive sustainable development guided by equal opportunities for all.
